Dear, Aspiring Authors: Please note, that to ensure the high quality and standards of ArcheBooks, we accept no unsolicited submissionsAll ArcheBooks authors must be represented by an established Literary Agency, and all submissions must come via those agencies according to the submission requirements detailed below. The exception to this policy are those authors who have successfully completed the ArcheBooks Professional Novelist Workshop, in-person or via CD Distance Learning, where in-depth training on development of an effective book proposal and how to sell to the publishing industry is offered.

Literary Agents:  If you have unique, high-quality novels from talented authors, we want to hear from you.  Specifically, we are looking for motivated authors who sincerely desire a career as a Writing Professional, ready to participate in marketing and promotion programs, attend trade events, schedule and attend regular book signings, etc.  We also seek prolific authors with whom we can develop long-term relationships, dedicated writers who have the drive to turn out one to two novels per year.  Series work, Trilogies, Sequels and recurring characters are highly desired.

The following describes our submission requirements and publication program in detail. Please note NO PAPER/HARDCOPY QUERIES OR SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ELECTRONIC VIA EMAIL PER THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

Submission Requirements:

  • The Author Evaluation Form is a Microsoft Word Document. When it opens, please select "Save As" to save the form to your computer.

  • Once Saved, the Form may be filled out and returned as an attachment with your Book Proposal (below)

A Book Proposal

1.  Your cover email.  One page Overview.  Please highlight Genre, Hook, and target audience appeal
2.  The Author Evaluation Form (above)
3.  A 2-3 page Outline or Synopsis of the entire story, major character descriptions, including ending and twists.
4.  Full manuscript in Microsoft Word format only (.doc).
5.  All submission must be in electronic form, via email, no hardcopy accepted.
6.  Send all submissions to publisher@archebooks.com along with your cover email and attachments of Treatment and Manuscript.
7.  No partial Manuscript proposals accepted.

All Microsoft Word Manuscripts submitted should be in standard manuscript format:

  • One inch margins top, bottom and sides

  • Double-spaced text

  • Font = Times Roman

  • Minimal formatting, no styles etc.

  • Slug Line OK (Header: Author, Title, Page Number)

  • On first page/title page, please include:

    • Author Name, Address, Phone, Email, Number of Words

Publication Model

All accepted and contracted manuscripts are published in cloth-bound Hardcover First Editions with full-color dust-jacket as well as in digital eBook format (Adobe Acrobat Reader, PDF).  Publication will be inclusive of:

  • Formal Content and Copy Editing

  • Custom Graphic Design of Cover Art (Click HERE for a dust-jacket example)

  • Galley Proofs for Author approval

  • Issuance and Registration of ISBNs/EANs (separate for Hardcover and eBook)

  • An Email Account on the website for fans to send email to the Authors

  • Website Marketing Package (Index Blurb, Full Description, Large Cover Art, Samples, Downloadable Press Kit, etc.)

  • Inclusion in all outbound Marketing and Promotional programs

    • Special Event Participation (Trade shows, conventions, conferences)

    • Formal Reviews

    • Direct Mailings (USPS, Email)

    • Advertising

    • Editorial/Media Coverage

    • Regular Press Releases

  • For Each Hardcover Title, the Author receives an Author Promotion Kit: (click below to see examples)

  • Free Attendance to the Professional Novelist Workshop for in-depth training

Hardcover First Editions will be featured on the ArcheBooks website, which are linked directly to the corresponding purchase page at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com for purchase and shipment.  The Hardcover titles are available to bookstores, libraries, and other retail outlets via Ingram Books' or Baker & Taylor's wholesale databases/catalogues in the USA, or via Bertram's in the UK.  Booksellers can also offer our Hardcover editions in their stores by ordering them directly from ArcheBooks via our Publisher Direct program.

Upon manuscript acceptance a formal contract will be issued for signatures.  All business activity will take place between ArcheBooks and the Author's designated Literary Agent of record, and not with the Author directly.  All royalty payments will be made via Literary Agents only for distribution to their respective Authors.

Royalty payments due the author are fixed at a flat fee of $2.00 per copy sold for small print run Hardcover production and eBooks, with an accelerated royalty schedule for hardcover titles printed in bulk print runs of greater than 1,000 copies.  Literary Agent commissions are to be deducted by the Agency as appropriate to your clients from that amount.  Royalty payments will be issued monthly for the previous month's actual sales.

No fees of any kind will be charged to the authors or to the Literary Agency.  Author Royalty Advances are per negotiated contract.
