ArcheBooks Publishing Launches New Shopping Cart System
(Applicable to US, Canada, and UK orders)
Ever since our inception in 2003, every now and then we receive a suggestion/complaint regarding a Shopping Cart system for the sale of our books, both retail and wholesale. However, until this year, the vast majority of our books sales were conducted not with the intent of primarily being a book merchant, but rather a publisher. Thus, 90% or more of our sales have been to wholesalers, distributors, retail chains, individual booksellers and other retailers, as well as our authors for their personal stock and sales. And all of these groups, for the most part, tend to buy one title at a time in various quantities, so that's how our e-commerce system was set up to operate.
But with over 70 original titles for sale in 10 categories as of March 2007, we've seen a dramatic increase in online retail consumer sales via our website (especially since we offer consumers a standard 25% discount off of MSRP for all of our printed titles). Therefore, to better serve this rapidly growing buying segment, we've now implemented a full Shopping Cart system, so that any number of titles in any quantity can now be purchased as part of one single sales transaction.
Browser Compatibility Notice: For best results, use Microsoft's Internet Explorer with the Shopping Cart. For some odd reason, Netscape has put Pay Pal (our credit card processor) on their blacklisted Phishing sites, and will restrict access for payment. It's nothing we can do anything about, just be forewarned, if you're a Netscape user. If you get strange errors via the AOL browser or any other -- its the browser. In such an event, try IE and it should work fine. If you run into any trouble with any of the Shopping Cart's functionality, please report it immediately to admin@archebooks.com.
Instructions for Use
To add any printed book title, Hardcover or Trade Paperback, into your Shopping Cart, look for this button at the top of each book description page:
Please note that most Shopping Cart systems work with cookies, to keep track of what's in your cart. If you have cookies disabled, you may run into problems. You can experiment with the various security levels your browser offers, or put Pay Pal on an exception/trusted list to accept its cookies. Your Browser may prompt you with a "Do you Want to View both Secure and Insecure Information" dialogue. If so, just hit "Yes" to continue. When you do, you'll something like this:
Just hit the "Continue Shopping" button to return to the Bookstore and browse further. When you've made all of your selections, hit the "Proceed to Checkout" button and you'll be prompted for all of your payment details. If you have a Pay Pal account (recommended), all you'll need to do it enter your normal login, and your payment will be even faster.
At any time during your shopping, if you want to see what titles you've selected in your cart, look for this button in the upper right hand corner of your screen:
The only exception to this new system is our eBooks. In order to facilitate immediate download after purchase, a customer needs to be able to be directed to a unique instruction and download page. So eBooks will still be sold as a single title per transaction. To purchase an eBook just look for this button at the top a book's description page:
Please note that this system will also address Wholesale sales via our Publisher Direct Program, accessed by retailers via the Bookseller's page. There are those instances when a bookstore will be hosting a book signing for one of our authors who has several titles in print, and the bookseller would like to purchase an assortment of them, but not by processing separate transactions for each title. Now they can put any number of different titles into their Shopping Cart and enjoy one checkout.
